Day 11 – A Break

Although I have been fighting them off for days, last night the harbingers of fall caught up with me.  I have been felled by the common cold.  As I am sitting on the couch surrounded by mountains of tissues, I am wondering why.  Why now.  Why in the middle of my 30 day experiment around money.  Why now when I feel as though I am making progress.

And, as I reflect, it occurs to me that perhaps this cold is really a gift in disguise.  An opportunity to rest without guilt.  An opportunity to take a break.

Perhaps I have been pushing myself too hard in the last few weeks.  Personally.  Professionally.  Perhaps I just need to be still.  Be quiet.  Sip tea.  Nap.  Let my mind wander.

I wish I would remember to rest before it is forced upon me by illness.  It would be so much more fun.

So, dear readers, today I will be taking a little break from my experiment.  My work today will be to get better so that I will be ready to dive in again tomorrow.  Rested.  Healthier.  Renewed.

Thank you for understanding.  Thank you for sticking with me during this experiment!

I love how you spotted the gift under all those tissues! I’m also curious, how does taking a break relate to money? I grew up being told I had to work hard to make money. Is that true? Hmm…

Great question … I think sometimes we try to force things by working “too hard.” By stepping back and letting things rest, we are actually opening the door to have more of what we want come our way. I think the same is true of money and its flow. We can work really hard for money – but we may actually be working on the wrong things to achieve our goals. Once we are able to step back, take a break, and rest, we may see opportunities that we missed before because we were so involved in our “work.” We may see an easier, more authentic way, by being open. Does that make sense? At least that’s how I look at it.

Oh, I love Sandi’s comment… and of course I love your response Andrea! Great post in general too… man you really hit the nail on the head with these posts and I’m very much enjoying reading them. I wish we could all remember to rest more, go within more, before it’s forced upon us by outside circumstances. What a fabulous reminder. I’m sorry you’re feeling under the weather, but happy that you’re taking this time to rest deeply. Enjoy your break :-)
